On new construction projects, CANY takes a holistic approach, assisting the Owner / Developer, Architect and Construction Team in every phase of the project: Schematic Design, Design Development, Contract Documents, Bidding, & Contract Administration. Our building enclosure consultants assist in the selection of systems and materials suitable to the Owner’s Project Requirements and Budget, targets the areas of system interface and building geometry that are often the sources of future problems and directly prepares / reviews details and project specifications.
We work in close coordination with the entire Project Team for special inspections and design to ensure the proper interface, performance, and function of the various components of the building enclosure. Our goal as building enclosure consultants is to meet or exceed programmatic, aesthetic, and functional performance expectations.
As an integral part of our design reviews, CANY performs COMcheck reviews and whole-building modelling to ensure compliance with the NYCEnergy Code, and performs analyses for energy initiatives that surpass code such as Zone Green. To complement macro reviews of the whole building, our building enclosure consultants analyze individual building components to determine heat transfer and condensation risk by deploying tools such as Therm and WUFI.
To confirm proper design and performance levels, CANY observes mock-up erection/testing and field-testing including onsite spray-rack and chamber tests. Our experienced building enclosure consultants monitor job progress, inspect and document ongoing work for conformance with the project documents and prepare reports for review by the project design professional(s) and Owner.
