Growing up in a New York City landmark building where his father was the manager means John Gjieli, Project Manager and Studio Lead at architectural consultants CANY, understands more than most the challenges faced by heritage building owners. For him, restoration is not just about preserving New York’s architectural history, but protecting its people. He knows first-hand the importance of keeping ahead of constantly evolving local safety and environmental laws, and the value of interpreting them for clients to protect and benefit their building and buildings, but ultimately the city.
