Ivan Zurkiwsky was raised in a Ukrainian immigrant community in Detroit and shaped by the fading beauty of its neglected buildings. Trained first as a painter, he turned to architecture as a way to balance creativity with structure and purpose. After moving to New York, he gained diverse experience across the city, while earning his license. Since joining CANY in 2017, Ivan has served as Director of Professional Services, charged with overseeing ethics, quality and consistency. Drawn to adaptive reuse, and the social, economic, and environmental conversations it sparks, he values the city skyline, and his role in preserving it for future generations.
